Just got this guy today in the mail..brachyplatystoma platynema. So far hasn't ate anything but will try it tonight. Anyone with any care tips for this fish please chime in..so far I notice it acts like false tigrinis in behavior. Fish is about 6in

Its tummy is concave but the body is still solid.
Mine is ~10"-12". Eats in great moderation. Does take cut fish and catfish pellets but rarely to a bulging tummy, unless a whole fish is offered. Likes when the food is rolling towards it in the current but not necessary.
I have had it for 10 months, since this March, it hardly grown, so much / little that I cannot even tell with confidence.
Never bothers tank mates in my tiny experience. Other brachie bother it significantly. It does not answer, only runs.

That's some slow growth geez. Well he did eat last night only issue is I don't know what lol. I had guppies and platys in earlier but also put a little krill in for the nanay dorado hes in with. This morning belly looks full. So far the 2 catfish have been ok together but I will definitely watch the situation. Wish mine came the size of yours but so far very best fish
Describe your experience with the two you had, if you will, please - sizes, growth rates, tank mate interactions, foods offered, etc.
Both unfortunate. The first I housed with a tig, and they grew at about the same rate for about a year. The tig killed the platy one night. The other only made it about 6 months. The weiner dog unplugged the tank while I was out of town and the wife didn't notice it.
