Another Festae thread!

While i appreciate a good debate, please Take the debate elsewhere. Start your own thread about bars and whatnot. Frankly I do not care if my fish have bars or not. I know full well and have admitted these fish are of unknown origin and purchased from a lfs that did not claim otherwise. I started this thread to chronicle my pairs breeding success and behavior with other enthusiasts.

Barless Festae are not found in the wild. Never has been, never will be. It is a direct result of inbreeding and is not exclusive to Rio Tumbes. If someone sold you bar-less specimens and claimed they were wild, please tell em quit hording the Crackpipe. The initial distributions of Rio Tumbes from Florida were all barred. Subsequent offerings thereafter were not the same, neither in profile, nor patterns. They were tank bred, pond/vat raised, inbreds. Unbarred Festae could never survive in the rivers of Ecuador/Peru. They are cave dwellers in their native habitats. Barring and the ability to fade them or darken is an adaptation to living in such a dark murky environment. Also is why true F0's are inheritantly shy.
Interesting point of view.

Your pair are looking good and congrats their latest spawn, even though I've never been a big fan of barless festae.

show some proof you've seen all Festaes of the world. Every single one god ever created.. You talk like youre god or something.

Even if I don't know anything about fish of any kind, what you say is like you created the breed..

RRgers,

The barred Festaes are Inbreeds.. They were in the wild breeding with their family members.. Till they were caught and brought into the hobby bred with another diferent line and become healthy barless festaes. Man you dont know.

:) jk

you should go around and talk like that about Trimacs too. Why some have more Flower spots and why some have less to none.

How do you know they do not exist in the wild? The fact that you said that they are the cause of inbreeding is insane! How could an f2's be inbred? The grandparents are confirmed Cichlids of americas wild rio tumbes. the F1 mother was taken from one pair and the F1 father from a different pair. That's definitely not inbred at all. Being unbarred has not effected the fish in anyway they acted the same as any other festae I've owned.

Sorry I derailed your thread. I started a thread about it a while back but got little replies.
