These fish continue to amaze me. The fry are slowly progressing and I am confident.

Paul my brotha, 6 weeks old? You need to feed those bad boys they should be 1.25-1.5" now!

I feel what you're saying. I could certainly optimize my setup a little better to accommodate these guys. I will try keep them better fed! Thanks!

ohhhhh

the male got vibrant undertone red too!

I heard about these Festae breed that males turn red from RHC. I think Im seeing them now.

Hope to see new pictures of the pair soon. tnx for sharing

Since this is a festae thread I got a question about them , which one is female and male how do I tell the difference ?
I have a festae about 2.5 inch don't no what sex it is

Good question. When mature and spawning the female will present a deep red all over and her ventral fins will be jet black as well as her eyes. Typically females also present prominent black vertical barring(mine do not).

When not spawning generally the female will have a prominent black blotch on the front half of the dorsal fin at all times.

Males tend to have more blue spangles but not always. At 2.5" yours may be just big enough to tell, but post a pic and let's see.
