I had 6 beautiful wild caught discus in with my marbles which are all around 9". My marbles attacked a 5" discus and ruffed him up pretty good about 3 months ago. Then 2 months ago they mauled another and killed it. Well today I came home and had another 6" discus tore up on both sides and had an eye sucked out. Out of all the rays I have kept my marbles seem to be the best or should say most obsessed with attacking other fish.

I think I'd be finding a new home for the discus!

Sorry to hear they beat it up. What strain of wilds are they ?

Sorry for your loss.....

Agree with you on Marbles seeming to be overly aggressive towards other fish. I had Marbles eat Tor that are now mixed with the anti Marbles, and the Marbles that ate them were several inches smaller then the anti Marbles.

sorry to hear my p13 are vicious ive tried discus, geos, tigrinus, pacman cat, armatus, tigerfish, perch nothin ever worked out

Strange enough never had issues with my Marbles.
I personally find once a ray reaches a disc size of 12" plus the chances of it taking down largish fish increases. Discus are sitting Ducks, they simply do not react quick enough to the predatory advances of a Ray, if you want round shaped fish in there large disc characins such as Metynnis, Myleus and Mylossoma make better additions, they are very nervous but this stands them in good stead when danger arises, they have lightening reflexes, even these need to be very large if your risking them with adult rays, the tank also has to be very large to give them options for escape.
You can get away with full grown Discus in an aquarium housing Hystrix or Scobina and the combination looks great but with any other species the situation at some point will turn ugly.
I have found adult black rays to be the most predatory of all, once had an 18" female Leo take down a full grown Uaru, removed all its scales off one side plus the eye ball....not nice!
Sorry for the loss!

My marbleds are excellent hunters. Was not an issue until a couple of the girls became pregnent, once this happened most everything is fair game.
