Another "Guess what's in the bucket?"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I received the male on July 21st 2012 @ 2" along with 15 others from COA. All 15 of the others were no where near as nice as this one particular male. Most of them were culled due to their quality. This guy more than made up for that though and he is a true beast. Have fun with him BD :)

He is red. Mike raised him with a bunch of his siblings.

Wow he looks just like mine, and I was also told he was a red from rapps. But he has no red in him at all, except for the slightest hint of speckling in his fins. So I believe he is a green. Yours also looks to be a green IMO, have you compared him to other reds, to see if he is truly a Red. You would know better than me. Here is a pic of mine for comparison...

Very nice and what a beast:) just because they're red doesn't mean they will be red lol, especially over dark substrate. My males usually maintained reds up untill around 6" then the blues became more prominent.

From what I have seen, there is a distinct difference in color between the red and green. Not to mention the growth rate between the two. My fish which I bought in jan 12 @ 2'' is now a good 10'' + . If you look at my fish and compare it to greens or reds he looks much more like a green than a red. What type of istlanum would you guess, looking at my fish? Just curious

Here is a good video below of the two species side by side

and even in a thread you posted in, you can see the difference between the two pretty clearly

If you look at Ruck Fules Red and Green Males, I would say mine is a spot on match of the green and the one in this thread looks mighty close to the green as well.
