Would i be better introducing the male into the females tank?
if that would be an option, you can try.still a crap shoot if they pair up.what size is her tank? i thought she was in a smaller QT tank? plus the sex of the fish is still undetermined, right? i would grow them out some more, but in a divided tank to see the behavior

Many cichlids will change colors, go lighter and darker with mood.also as they get used to a new tank.female...I think.X2 with using a divider for introducing.I would also re-arrange the whole tank decor when you put in divider

+1 on color, divider and re-arranging tank. It gives the new fish a chance by taking most of the attention away and making all fish think they are the "new guy" as far as territory. I'll go against the grain a little and say ...Male.

Either way nice!

So if i bought this jag and added it to my tank, how much trouble would i get assuming my original fish is a male and the new one is a female?

I worried about causing a fight in an otherwise peaceful tank.

Really depends on size of the tank and the rest of the stock.

In this case, size matters...,

Currently i have a 5x2x2 tank, it has an EBJD 4.5 inches, Severum 7-8 inches and the Jag 6-6.5 inches.

The other jag i have is around 5 inches currently 25 gallon tank.

I have setup 50 gallon tank i planned to move the smaller jag to, but i could put the bigger jag in that tank and put the smaller jag in the bigger tank. The other option would be to divide up either tank and put them both in it.

I am getting a 6x2x2 tank as soon as i can find a good tank second hand.

Sorry to bump it but i thought someone would give me a better idea.

I'm tending toward female; the coloring, venting (but that is a guess) and it keeps digging out caves in my tanks.
