Hey this is my first post here after just discovering this site and I was wondering if anyone here would recommend this new set up for corals
http://www.bigalsonline.ca/BigAlsCA...aticlife8x39wt5lightfixturew6ledlunarlights72

or maybe something for a similar price, the tank is established for over a year and I want to now add some eaiser coral and maybe try my hand at anemones for my clownfish. The tank dementions are 72" x 24" x 24". I would like to hear why the light system I posted wont work if you believe so and if you could a subsitiue. Thanks in advance for any advice.

There are a couple things you have to tell us first, how big is your tank?

How deep is it?

What corals are you planning on keeping?

I would say that if you had a standard 75g you could keep a lot of corals in there...I have 300w on mine, and Im growing acros and millis about half way down the tank. Some people say that MH is more "intense" than t5...or has better penetrating power, and thats why I am having my success. A lot of people have awesome coral tanks with t5 though. I just dont have any experience with them.

Let us know the specs on your tank, and then we can help you better.

I think that fixture is good your talking about the one that can hold 4 bulbs? That should me enough for anemones. YOu will need more if your going with something like clams. That you need like 6 especially since their nearly in the sand.

Ideally you want 3-4 watts per gallon. Also are these regular T5 Bulbs or HOT5. I think someone said you have around a 180 Gal based on your Dims. It's hard to get the wattage you would need out of T5 lights. You will most likly need MH.

If you have a canopy, you could run 2 Retro 250W MH and supplement with Super Actinic VHO's.
