another loud AC110 thread

For the last few weeks my 2 year old 110 has been making a lot of noise like the impellar is slightly rubbing up against the housing. I've taken it apart on numerous occasions without any resolve. Last week I decided to try ordering a new impellar online for it believing that was the only thing to fix it and if anything the new impellar has made the noise louder. Any suggestions?
 
Did you use q tips to clean out the motor?maybe a chunk of sand or something embedded in the plastic.I have 1 that's been runnin for about 6 years trouble free.
Might have to replace the motor itself.

u use sand in ur tank?? I have sand in one of my AC110 tanks, and the sand is so fine grade it always gets into my filter... the AC's are loud every time i turn them off, and turn them back on a few minutes later... aka water changes.. so i go out and hose them off, to try and get rid of all the sand inside of them...IT takes about 3 trips to the hose and back before the ac shuts up again...

If its real bad, id suggest printing out the 39.99$ AC110 coupon from petsmart or bigals, or any online place and bring it into petsmart and theyll price match the coupon.

40$ is a good deal. Im in the process now...
 
If you are using sand you could have broke the impeller and needs to be replaced and should be quite again unless sand gets into it again.

I've tried that already....
 
take the lid off ans see if it stops. All of mine vibrate and if I move the lid in any direction it stops.
 
Mine does it too after I shut it off to do a waterchange. The noise comes and goes and I have taken the impeller out and cleaned.
