Not so sure that is a FL it may be a Longnosed or Shortnosed..Some better pics would help..can't wait to see them..would be nice to see something other than yet another Platyrhincus..:)

if i decide to buy it there will be better pics to come. ok...well i am leaving work now to go look. ill keep you updated.

i never seen a fl or spotted gar with a long long tail or really pointy snout like that.

wonder what it really is. looks cool

i'm with polypterus on this one. i think it could very well be a longnose gar. they are coming into season right about now, and this is generally what they look like coming in. this fish has a much more slender body than your typical Florida gar, and the snout looks a bit longer as well. time will tell, but i'm leaning towards longnose.

keep in mind, longnose gars grow MUCH faster than Florida gars, and they also get larger, not to mention they are a more skittish species. be prepared to upgrade their tank rapidly. under extreme conditions i've grown a longnose gar from 3" to 10" in just 21 days :) --

thanks guys.

Sorry I'm not a photographer, but here's the best I could do for now. I'm starting to think longnose too.
