The Real Norcal
I have a 7-8" silver that sometimes pretty skittish (fast movements in front of the tank, lights on/off time, sometimes when I open the lid) and I could hardly imagine it being aggressive at all but you never know.

I am going to get a Lei at about 5-6",feeling the need to compensate for my not winning the post-a-palooza,and I will be attempting to get the Lei and the Silver to get along. If it looks like its just not going to work out with just the two than I will probably add a 3rd as suggested but heres the twist:

If a 3rd aro is needed to help thin aggression I will more than likely add a black.bringing the total to 1 silver,1 lei,and 1 black.

I just spent quite awhile reading every "aro compatibility" post in the first 10 pages and I dont see where anybody has tried a lei with a silver, and definately not a lei with a black or all 3.

So theres my "mixing aros, but with a twist".....no questions really, just wanting your guys' $0.02

i have 2 aros in my 400, and i have a 3rd on the way (meilings 14"er) but even without mei's there okay. lil dominancy from the smaller one but to me it looks more like a pair. they be dancing and swimming together all day. but there still so young its hard to tell.

im gonna be mixing a lei and silver, i should be pickin up a baby silver this week so ill let u know how it works out. leis are unpredictable. its like a jardini at times so no guarantee's on its behaviour

I actually have a silver around 7 inches or so and want to get a Lei also, one way or another. I think it should be fine, considering that silvers love the surface and Lei's prefer considerably lower levels in the water, reducing the risk of conflict. I know that people have sucessfully done it before so hey. Also, I do want to have a black in the mix as well....should be fine if introduced right....but who knows, they all have different personalities.

misterE, i kinda dissagree about lei's being mainly mid water... my lei is everywhere but mainly 3-4" below surface or at the surface. thats his zone. he does occassionally cruise around down low and around, but 90% of the time he's up top.

hope it works out!

i wanted to try to put a sliver w/my jar, but since my jar is a mean beast, keep on chasin and bitin my oscars and large red hooks around, i thought the silver won't stand a chance. but good luck with your tank, i hope i have all that cash layin around to get some new fish too :nilly:

it will work. the more the best..
