Went to check out lfs after the game and saw that they had 3 of these as a recent trade in. Already picked up 1 about 2 weeks ago and I'm loving it so the temptation was too good to pass up on it. This one is a lot bigger than the one I have.

Looks like Pimelodus blochii or closely related. They are fun catfish. I've got 5 in 4500 gal and they love swimming around day and night, in a stark contrast to when I had them in smaller tanks of 30-240 gal. The smaller the tank, the more they hide, the less they swim, it appears. Dithers matter too, as well as absence of aggressive tank mates.

It is a Pimelodus blochii. My first one swims constantly and doesn't hide. Hopefully this one will be the same. They seem to have a little fight last night but nothing major.

Nice. That means they are comfortable. Unless they fought for the same spot, the fight was likely about establishing hierarchy. Once established, it should be peaceful.

2 is rarely a good number as one would usually be bullied by the other and be the sole receiver of the bullying. 4-line Pims are usually not too bad about it but it can be unpredictable. A larger group's socialization is more stable, with aggression more dilute and less damaging.
