if you can get a good look at her side you can tell if shes really a she.

red/orange blotch means its a sheila if not you got a homo texas

Well there's no defined blotch, but there is some orange/gold coloring near the anal fin. Not to mention that all of the striping has yellow/orange under it.

just look at the fins... if it flows and tapers off to a nice long point you got a male.. if its rounded your good to go with a straight texas... lol

Well I have a male. Haha. Would it be smart to pick up a female? That's a constant source of food, but also a death warrant for my other fish, correct?

what ive been told is that a breeding pair of cons are very territorial, but my breeders are aggressive but the only real harm they've done is uproot some decor and build huge nest on one half my tank. i think it should be fine. inless told otherwise then i say go for it.

Yeah, the 55g. I'm teetering on it. It's a tough call though.

i didn't notice how big the tank was... i would get a separate tank for them if your willing to and start your own little breeding project!

It's possible. I would enjoy having another Con and also having some fry for food purposes that I know will be clean and disease-free. I may just keep them in a 55g and move my others to my 500g build. :D
