I agree with Mytee. It's a lot better if you start off yourself from scratch. Though I would see If I could score those powerheads off her, that is if they are in good shape. I love the koralias and highly suggest them to anyone.

I wouldn't take the heaters, you don't know what they've been through and how close they are to failure.

I wouldn't take the filters, I think a sump would be better for you.

Can we see pictures?

Well I did take all her stuff, got it set up this weekend. I'll post pics in the next day or 2, but since I got all the rock and stuff I've discovered it's green hair algae that is the problem. So I guess I need to do some examining and see what I come up with for nitrates and phosphates. The lady I got it from wasn't changing the water much so I'm pretty sure the original root of the problem was nitrates but I don't want it to continue.

Any other suggestions? Anyone know what spectrum of light it grows off of and whether I could keep the actinic or 10000k lights on w/o helping it grow?

I have it in a 30 gallon and I now have 2 nassarius snails, 1 large turbo, 5 blue leg hermits, 2 red leg hermits, and 5 other snails that are nerites/ceriths. How much more should I add for the clean up crew?

I also had a question about circulation - Is a magnum 350 and a Koralia 3 too much water movement? My clownfish are hiding in the back corner and it's been two days so I'm kinda worried about them.

Other than that, it's been 2 days and the four fish are still kicking, everything looks good so far!

Hey another question on top of the last post: how often should I water change? With freshwater the more often you change the water the healthier your fish are.....but I'm getting a lot of conflicting views on SW water changes from LFS, friends, etc.

if you do this amount of a change bi-weekly its good you replenish the necessary minor and major trace elements, as well as reduce nitrates, nitrites, and phosphates as well as ammonia. In the wild the ocean changes its water 100% every wave crash so doing a bi-weekly change is not going to disrupt anything in your system.
