news like this just pisses me off. they know there are huge natural gas reserves and ts dangerous for the people who work for the animals and yet they keep drilling what the hell is wrong with them

Its the pocketbook. And bad politics.

That being said I didnt read anything about leakages I dont think...I just skimmed, but lets hope not.

This rig is only under 350 feet of water. If it is leaking, it shuold be capped quick. Unlike the BP leak, which was under 5000 feet of water.

This seems kind of fishy to me, 2 rigs within few months of each other? Didn't the government just have all the rigs inspected? Eco-terrorists maybe? The crazy mofo taking over the headquarter of Discovery and the next day this platform rig blows up.

^ I was thinking .... who is earl? LOL I am like cat 3.... earl... what?

Then it clicked... the storm. -_-

Anywho yup its all about teh money... =[

From what I read they found the sheen of 100ft wide and 1 mile long but thats about it. Everything I read said they were not yet able to determine if it is leaking or not... but if it is I hope they figure it out soon and take care of it asap if it is.

they are also finding that there is a bioorganism that digests the crude oil, its found at the depths of the first oil well that blew.

do you really think that active nature of the planet keeps all the oil locked in rock? and that the ecosystem wouldn't develop a way to keep its self clean at those depths? sure is bad, but not as bad as some of the first predictions said it would be. and no i am not saying we should do nothing we live here with the plants and animals so we have to help clean up our mess. but the fear mongering needs to stop.

I dunno but it makes me mad and I really dont think we should be out there at all period and if this produces another bad spill at all they really need to reconsider having them out there at all.

You would change your mind really quick if gas went up to $5 a gallon. One of the reasons fuel prices aren't outrageous is because of these wells.

No I wouldn't.... from my understanding a lot of the well's oil from the gulf's is sold overseas.

Also gas prices dont really get me.... I dont have to drive much anyways. I did fine when gas hit $3-4 here and if happens again then oh well. I really do think it would be better to look into alternatives. I am aware its expensive. Something I paln to do when I own my own house is to get solar panels. I think they are a great investment, granted they are expensive to me its worth the money.

As for bioorganisms, thats pretty cool. However if thousands or million of oil were to spill out of the ocean floor again it wont stop the damage from being done, but it could help with cleaning it up if there are enough of them reproducing. Thats pretty cool find though. You are right there are natural oil seeps in the ocean, the key word being seeps, millions of gallons dont pour out if it cause a lot of damage to wildlife. From the reports I have been reading from USF/FWC the oil is more in the water column then originally thought. Only time will tell if the damage is bad or not. I am just going to cut myself off there, it is what it is. Just a differing of opinions.
