Another one bites the dust

Thanks guys. Yes, he was a tat. Here is a pic from when he was a little better off. This was my third attempt at keeping payara. This time I bought three. I lost one due to parasites in the initial quarantine. The two left fought constantly, so I sold the submissive one. This one was the more dominant one. I got him off live food immediately, and he has been on masivore and krill for as long as I've had him. This one has been my most successful, but still not a success. Nitrates were always under 5, upper 80's (temp), lots of aeration, drip system. Drip is well water that is softened, aerated, filtered down to 5 micron, and uv sterilized. I don't know what else I can do to provide what these guys need, so I'm gonna call it quits. I'm tired of experimenting with these awesome animal's lives. I'm thinking of moving on to pbass. :) ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1356192765.507189.jpg

The temps may have been too high. These guys come from highland areas in the Amazon basin with with crashing whitewater and relatively cool water that is about 78-82 degrees. If you kept the tank in the high 80s without an absurd amount of circulation, like 10,000 gph plus, he probably didn't have enough oxygen.

ya payaras only thrive in the high 70 of current.s and the very low 80s. They also need peak circulation of current.

Ur payara might of gotten spooked and it might of hit the glass in high speeds.
