Every step? I respectfully disagree. Example being lets say the mother ray isnt getting proper nutrition? Not receiving the maximum or natural amount of vitamins, minerals, food sources might hinder the pups development.

Perhaps its a mixture of environment and genetics???



no worries, im all for any type of ray discussion! -

I have no proof of it being a genetic defect.

But there are so many ray keepers out there and they all feed their rays differently. And many only feed one or 2 kinds of food (like me). But batman rays are still very very rare.

Also, i just posted a link to a WC orbignyi. I dont really see how a wild ray can lack natural food/minerals, vitamins and so on..

Just got news form the Peru exporter.

Batman rays are not that rare from the wild. But we never see them in the shops. Reason?

The exporters dont want them. So the locals just throw them back into the river.

I hope to bing some pics soon!

Also, he said the same thing as me. They have bad genes.

we have a breeder here in Germany, who had a batch of 9 (nine) batman-motoros. 3 died, but the other 6 are doing fine. It was the first time, that his female-motoro gave birth to any pups. maybe there's some connection between her first batch, the number of pups and this deformation.
