Girl comes in store carrying a small bait bucket. Asks if we do saltwater. Tell her no. Says she has a puffer she's trying to get rid of and nobody wants. Her and her friends were at a beach and found it. They caught it and said they were going to eat it. She didn't want that to happen so she takes and starts driving around from store to store trying to find someone to take it. By the time she got to me her desire to save it had worn thin. When I went to look at it, she says tell me it died. I don't feel like looking anymore but I don't want to feel guilty about it. So now I have this puffer at work in a container with an airstone. She didn't have enough water to even cover it so I had to make some, guessing at proper amount. I'll find out shortly if it survived the night. If so I will figure something out with it. I guess for some people doing the right thing is cool as long as it's convenient. No, I don't know what type it is. Will research if it survives and I keep it.

Why didn't the girl just put the fish back in the water where she found it. And who the hell eats a puffer anyways. Good luck with your new fish.

you should have let them eat it and be done with the lot of them.
A lot of people at work said the same thing.

That would have required logical thinking and more dedication than she was willing to put in to it.

Jeeesus! Hope you save that Puffer

i hope you save the puffer... that is so sad..

it might be that it was her puffer and she wanted to give it away. And make all those stories.

took the burden off her shoulder and given to you lol !

good luck with the puffer fish.

Thanks everyone. When I got in this morning it was still alive. Did a water change on the container as it was small. After work went to the local beach. Found a quiet spot where the water came up past the trees. Put him in the water and he sank to the bottom. Watched him for a minute and then reached in and touched him so he wouldn't just sit there within easy reach. He jerked, and then seemed to realize that he had unlimited space and was last seen swimming as fast as possible towards deeper water. And best part is, this bit of stupidity on someones part only cost me about $10 in supplies and a couple hours time. I count it as a win.
