Another RTG tailfin question, plz read.

My Sapphire XB was stunted when I got it, and had bad tail damage in the middle like yours but worst. I was going to cut the tail, but he had already been stressed to the max so I let it go. Now after 8 months It's is almost back to normal, just a few more weeks and it will be perfect. Good luck.

I would cut back the fin and let grow back as one piece will be quicker.

Even if it does stay split, it doesnt look that bad really, kind of cool.

thanks for the reply Boydo. i will give him some more weeks and hopefully i will see some increase in finnage in the middle. if not i can always catch him, anesthesise and cut teh fin while pricking the skin in the middle.

sounds too troublesome for me...but then again i'm not expert in doing this...if u have the knowledge and skill...i guess go ahead if there're no sign of growth for a month or so...

my silver (post in separate thread) was show some significant improvement after i add Melafix. The tail part (not just the fins) start growing

the finnage is growing pretty well and i actually think i do see slight improvement in the middle since the last 2 days. looks like the edges of the fin are "pulling" the middle out now...

i dont add medicine to the water as imo good water quality and food should do the trick.

hope it grows back BUT I have seen an rtg with the middle of the tail missing looks like yours but much more was missing. the owner said it jumped out of the tank and never grew back.

Dun cut or do anything to it. Let it regrow back itself.
