Another sex my Jag thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When I reread my post I realized it wasn't very clear, some important words didn't make it. It would help your ID result, if you shot a closer clearer pic of the head and gill plate because....
Males usually have an array of small spots on the gill plate, females don't.
Although the pic below is motaguense, the same spotting pattern applies.
male mota

female mota

Belly is only fat because it's a little piggy, ate a bunch of earthworms. There is only a pleco in with it so it's hard to say what kind of temperament it has. I'm trying to grow it out for the big tank. Seems like all I end up with is female fish.
I notice the males can have a full belly and the front part where it eets the chest cavity always seems to stay concave no matter how much they eat. Anytime I ever saw a Jag shaped like a football it was a female....both my OG pairs shared this trait and I'm seeing it more and more in my current "pair"

again he is small still,, when I first got my male and put in with the female he was 5" and she was 6" they looked so much alike I was thinking I had 2 females. and was starting to get pissed, then they spawned and I was a happy camper again, now no dowt who is the male and who is the female.

again WC jags, not tank bread.

here is my little male f1, about 6" from the WC spawn,

and here is a little female from same spawn.

as for gill plate spotting, might get a beter example of this between the male female in this vid of my pair taken the other day,
