Another simple project.

man you make this look easy lol my female parrot has shown no interest in either my male middevil or the male tex :(

I have a few tricks...
Recently I placed my two male bifas in a 100gal pond, I then put my syn/parrot female in a cage made out of plastic "eggcrate" light diffuser in the pond. She got to see her intended mate be the dominant male without being able to kick his butt as she had been doing previously. Last night I put them together in a 55 with a few texas fry for targets/dithers, she is dominant over him but does not chase or bite him anymore. They seem to be bonded, they chase other fish away together etc.

This works to get a male to accept a female too, let him see her kicking butt and taking names with the other girls...restrain him if you have to with a divider/cage etc, but make him watch her being the queen bee, cichlids will always choose the most powerful/dominant fish for a mate, no matter which sex they are. I've used this method with or without a cage/divider more than once.

Mind you what I just described may not work, the bifas isn't old enough, if the female decides shes ready damnitall she might revert to kicking his a**. If that happens I separate them and try again later...relentlessly, lol!

Well it finally did work, no fry as yet but she has fully accepted him as her mate. Will have to do an update thread soon.

The fry from her and the midas haven't faded yet but they show a lot of promise. I may offer a very small number of them for sale. Still not sure about that though.

I only have fry from the first pair in this thread atm, the sb ratio was roughly 50/50 before I did the first cull...but even the longer fry seem to be fairly short. Again, proving what I already knew, sb IS a "super" dominant gene.....you have a pm Aquatic Aggression.

Pic's for you fishfreak
