Anybody do/done this? I've got plain PFS in there now and it looks pretty cool but at the same time the sand is really plain, as if my tank is a beach, or a desert. I have 50lbs or so of medium brown gravel and some larger (2" or so) flat river rocks and I was wondering if anybody has mixed rock and sand, and how it looks (pics would help). I'm thinking the rock will give a little more dimension to the sand but I don't want to throw in the rock and have it look crappy, and then be trying to sift the rock out of the sand. Also if anyone did this did you just mix it all together or put the rock on top or whatever.

i redid my 55 last night w/ rocks and smoke grey sand. rocks mostly half of 1 side with sand only on the other side. i like it and it seems my fish do too.

I aquascaped Home Depot Gravel and sand in a 180.....I formed a somewhat "beach" in the center of the tank, sort of half mooned....I then surounded the outline of the sand with the pea gravel....Looked pretty cool....Just be aware of strong currents caused by powerheads and bar outakes, the sand is light and will form to the current....Stick large rocks around the sand edges to break some of this current....

Thanks guys, gonna see what I can work out. Might leave the sand on one side with the holey rocks that are in there and then driftwood on the other end with the river rocks.

I have PFS in my 75 and I sprinkled some pea gravel I had, along with some round river stones. It looks great!

Keep in mind that gravel will eventually settle into and below the sand. Eventually, you will have a beach yet again.

sounds good actually.

you should take a little bit and mix it up.

and take a look.

its always depends on the owner of the tank~

what ppl say doesnt really matter.

i always think of it as your own little piece of "lake" or "sea" environment.

Hope that helps bro.

Good Lucc.
