I've had one of these for awhile now, just curious who else has kept this particular polypterus. I've been under the impression that they aren't that common, and thusly have never found much info on them. Mines currently about 5 inches, roughly doubled in length since I got it. About how big do these guys get?

I get mine this saturday. As far as i know they are one of the largest bichir species.

if yours looks like this then its a Ansorgii XEndlicheri not a true Polypterus Ansorgii..

Doesn't look like the frist 2 pics, although the 3rd is kinda close. Once I figure out how to post pics from my phone ill put up a pic and you can tell me which I have. As is, its a damn cool fish. Easily one of my favorites in my tank, always laid-back, never aggressive towards its tankmates

I've seen photos of a 33" Ansorgii...

From the OP's post he got the fish at 2.5" in size. That alone leads toward the cb Ansorgii/Endi. Still great fish. To the Op, check out Hao's post's in the media lounge of his larger speciman.
