I agree with rallysman. I use a check valve AND I drill the holes in the return line. Anything to full proof the potential hazards of a 240g water spill in my living room.

I'm a firm believer in redundancy. Murphy's law is a b*tch.I agree!! The check valves only last a few months in saltwater tanks and they need replacing. Bigger sump is the best way to go.
