I don't know if I have a virus but I'm getting pop-ups from Antivirus 2009 to register to get rid of spyware. I want to get rid of Antivirus 2009 but I can;t find the name when I go to the control panel to remove programs. The Antvirus 2009 icon (a shield) is on my desktop and on the bar at the bottom right of the screen. When I try to delete the icon on my desktop it won't let me. I guess I can use my recover program to clean up everything on my computer but then I will have to add all the programs again. Any help is appreciated, The Doctor.

Sounds like the antivirus you use has expired...Try and go to www.download.com and get a new one...Delete all old ones on your pc...

I couldn't find it by the control panel. I just went to "All Programs' and I found it and was able to erase it. All the icons are gone. Just hope it worked. Thanks anyways, The Doctor.

google " AVG free " download, and run a full virus scan, what you have is a dormant trojan virus that is tying to get you to allow it to download all sorts of viruses

ummm red is that you in your avatar? - lol

i have the 2008 symantec antivirus program ..a short time ago Symantec sent me the 2009 to upgrade the one i already have.. i installed it and now i still have the same amount of days left before i need to buy the 2009 program but i have the 2009 up until the time of my renewal because it has been updated.. so what are you using now that you have removed it?

ohh lord get rid of symantec and download avg, that is the top 3 worst anti viruses you can run. it works like a virus symantec implants it self into all parts of your computer taking up a lot of space as a virus does, its pretty much a non violent virus but it slows your speed by a lot and is hefty
