Anxiety breathing issues

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ive got tons of xanex left from before. Only took them during the hard times. Like I say, other than cigars which even just one relaxes me for the rest of the evening or day, and a few drinks here and there, Im a health nut. Always either at the gym, biking, basketball, or just out door yard stuff with family. I eat good, take vits, drink lots of water and so on.

The chest dosnt get tight really or feel pressure, its just that stupid butterfly feeling in the top area of my chest, its just so irritating, I cant imagine going on meds that will alter my moods and mind just for this breathing part of it. I guess I could try the xanex a little this weekend durring the morning time of my cousin. I just dont feel any stress about it, just sad and numb yet strong for the rest of the family.

tobacco and booze when used in moderation are mankinds oldest best stress relievers minus the big O :)

personally untill my kids made me stop i used to smoke vanilla tobacco outa a corn cob pipe. i used to smoke 4 packs a day till my wife got preggers with first kid then i quite cold turkey for about 3 years totally dry. now every once and a while on a really bad day i will bum a smoke from some one or go buy a pack smoke 5 -6 and give it away.

well I cant smoke cigs, they actually make the anxiety worse, go figure, but I smoked them for a couple years off and on. Havnt had a cig in maybe 4 months or more.

So anyone else have this dumb breathing issue and not the rest of the anxiety?

Its probably some form of anxiety/stress. Just accept it and don't fight it. I have learned that going against the grain, and trying to fight anxiety, depression etc, only makes it worse. Just let it be, and let it pass. These kind of things leave on their own when its time.

The more you focus on it and try to get rid of it, you waste more time and energy on it.

Recipe for substance abuse.. My old man used alcohol as a vice and it damn near ruined our family.

don't use any substance as a means of relief, go talk to a shrink or doctor, and if that doesn't work. talk to other shrinks and doctors.

DOnt worry LIMY, Ive started back in the day with mild stuff, then went all the way in my 20s, then slowly tapered back down to occasional drinks and cigars in my 30s now. I know its easy to let happen, but Ive got too much to loose to go down that path. Sorry for your experience though, Ive seen a lot of that.

^ Agree. Drinking and drugging promote stress/depression/anxiety and much more.
depends on the level. I enjoyed one bowl of Dunhill Standard Pipe Tabac last night and it soothed out my evening and I slept like a baby, until I woke up and had to pee, which totally ruined a good dream. Anyways, I know what you mean though, well, they pry dont want us talking too much about drugs and alcohol, and since its not my real issue here, I guess Im just going to try and ignore it and stay busy and maybe it will just stop.

my girlfriend hast hat exact same thing. recentl her mother was diganosed with cancer in several areas and has been treated, and luckily knock on wood, has been cured completely. there were some very low points and that was really hard on her. the problem started shortly afer her mother was diagnosed. after a few trips to the docter they said it was just anxiety and prescribed xanex but she doesnt like to take any meds and only takes it when she really cant fall asleep because of that feeling. it seems to help but she is always looking for other ways to get rid of it. the meditation thing seemed to help even just sitting down closing her eyes and clearing her mind with a couple of deep breaths seem to help relax her a bit when its really bad. but ill reccomend the exercising idea to her cause you said it helped you a bit.

Yeah Im truly sorry for her bud, its so much harder than ppl think to deal with, even once you know its just anxiety, I could climb confidently into the ring with a pro boxer right now with no panic, but this stupid breathing thing stemed from anxiety is still lingering, its just real irritating. Exercise helps everything by the way, everyone should give at least a half hour a day, its better than watching some half our stupid rerun on tv right.

Good luck to you guys, take care.
