any advice on setting up an LFS store

Maybe already posted, I didn't read all pages, but go online with a discount to cover shipping. I order everything but emergency stuff from an online retailer that has a brick and mortar store as well. I get it in 2 days, and at half of what the stores around here get/want for the same thing, including shipping.

if you decide to set up, send me a PM.

I know a lot of the suppliers that fish stores around the toronto area use, many of them are very good.

the thing is with suppliers, they are not all equal, and many have species of fish that they have that are of much better quality than others that they have.

for example, most of the african cichlids in toronto area fish stores are ordered from these guys:

and they are very good africans.

good syno cats too if I recall..

I am trying to remember some of the other suppliers that we used.

what you want is good quality (not tiny sized) fish.

lots of suppliers offer stock lists with good prices, and then when the fish come in, they are microsized.

customers don't always want microsized fish.

the trick is to find decent sized fish at good prices.

when the stock lists come in, they often have different sizes listed.

eg. small med. large.

never order small, even if they are cheap.

try to get at least the middle sized stock..

a lot of this will come with trial and error.

order from one supplier, see how they are.

if the fish are good quality, order again.

if not, try a different supplier for the same fish etc.
