Also do you suggest i buy the plants in Pot's or as cuttings ?

I have never been a huge fan of stemmed plants. They are generally higher maintenance than "regular" rooted plants: If they flourish, they grow like crazy and you have to cut them more often than your front lawn. If they don't do too well, they rot off the stems and drift around. I prefer Cryptocoryne, they are less work :D

However, I have an opinion to answer your question: I'd buy cuttings, it's cheaper. And after all, if your conditions are nice, they will soon have roots. If your conditions are bad, it won't make a difference and they all rot off at the bottom.

Good luck,

So i got my Java moss today it's not a lot 20grams here's a pic of what i got delivered.

But when i unravelled it it all fell apart and when i added it to my tank it seemed to just float away so i sprinkled some gravel on it to hold it downand spred it along the front of my tank.

The substrate i used was some sand on the bottom then sloped the gravel on top of the sand up towards the back of the tank so it slopes down.

will the Java moss grow like this ? and dose it spread all along the bottom or does it just grow up right ?

Any way here's apic of how it looks it's a little murky so excuse it pls.

this is my 2 20gals in my bedroom. the lower one i'm working on the top have silk plants in.

Howdy,

Looks like you covered most of the moss with substrate. Please note that whatever moss is covered will probably rot. I understand it is essential to anchor it, but since you don't seems to have fish in the tank, yet, some less gravel will do. The moss will then attach to gravel from above

Sorry mate i didn't quite understand the bit about the moss attaching from the gravel above ???

I have 2 guppy's in there helping it cycle they tend to hide around the back of the filter when i have been messing about in the tank.

Thanks Harley.
