NEVER do this. That is extremely irresponsible of you. You can wipe out entire populations with the diseases you could be spreading. Do you really want to take that chance?

Obviously has no idea, or respect for those concerns, or this wouldn't be a discussion. To take a fish into captivity, that you know you cant keep to maturity, and your only plan is to let it go, is blatant disregard of those concerns, And MonsterFishKeepers Im sure doesn't condone such things (Chief) :)

I read somewhere that in Indiana after 1 month of keeping it in captivity you can't let it go, no matter what it is or how big it is. That is if you caught it in the wild, but it is completely illegal to release something you bought no matter what it is without a permit.

Good point, However..Laws or not a responsible fishkeeper should observe common sense rules of taking and keeping fish, and not become a part of the careless group who have almost ruined our Native waters with disease, and fish bought, taken carelessly and released, or dumping your pet fish into waters where they are not supposed to be. If you do that what are we leaving the younger guys?? Nothing but a mess.

wow I agree now if it was a native bass or bluegill I would say else but a fish that is not native and grows huge is definatly a no no to release I say donate it to a local aquarium when it outgrows your tank maybe even a bass pro or somewhere will take it.

Woah now. I never said I would let it go into a river or lake or anything of that sort. Ide just cut its head off. Muhahaha. Bad joke but seriously calm people.

Quote:I'l let it go after it outgrows my tank, however big it may be. Just pack its little suitcase, and send it down the road ? :). We are seriously calm people, but whatever floats your boat i guess. LMAO
