Just wondering if anyone here is a AMC fan?

got a red/red 69 amx, 290 automatic 3 speed. Not done, but getting there, Have redone front and rear suspension and brakes, cut the rear 1/4's out. Fixed the front end up, tranny was out just had it rebuilt. Next is the motor is going to be coming out to be painted, and engine compartment painted.....Motor has a cam, 4bbl, hooker headers, nothing too special. It's also got power steering, front disc brake, the motor has been rebuilt about 20 years ago and the car was parked, a tune up and it's a beast!! So here's some pics, anyone else with any amc or related cars, post some pics!!!

awesome! my grandpa used to drag an AMX way back in the day, was named "Retaliation" to rub ford/chevy guys the wrong way. always had a sweet spot for them, wish i had one myself.

as light as it looks that thing should fly
the amx broke over 100 speed records before it was released. The 390 4 speed car did a average of like 156mph for 24hours or something....i'll post the videos, they are way cool!!!

AMC's are alright cars. I have a buddy that has a nice '69 Javalin.

But I still like my '69 Stang better. ;)
Jav's are cool, but the amx's were top performer :) Let's see some pics of the stang!!! I like all old cars.

Your grandpa is cool!!!! and it is the truth some of the amc's can blow the doors off ford/chevy, granted there is probably more faster fords and chevys out there just considering theres probably more chevy 350's around then all the amc v8's combined, lol.

Cool car, I'd love a 78 Pacer myself!

Cool! there's an amc for everyone I say, hehe. I've been looking around for a rambler, like to add one to the collection.

Everyone post pics of what you got..all brands...I like em all, would like to see what you all have. Have a few others i'll post later...

my gramps also raced a rambler, never lost once in that car.

im going to get a tat on my forearm of the "Retaliation" that was on the side of his car exactly as it was on the car. sort of a tribute to him.

i'll have to dig em up, their somewhere in all my crap. gimme a few days. he was a real old school rodder, from building a 33 ford from nothing, to lead sleds, dragging, showing, rambler salesman or service tech(cant remember which off the top my head)etc... was president, treasurer of a local hot rod council. was one of the main guys in getting woodburn drag strip in oregon built, and also was one of the two first cars ever raced down the track.

ive got massive docs and pics to all this.

sorry for the thread hi-jack.

No no not a thread hi-jack at all. That's great that he did all that and you have some pics to show it off. I'm sure we will be all glad to see them, I would be proud of him. Vintage racing is awesome. Have a friend that has some dvd's he made from all the old days of racing here, lots of cool stuff., we watch it for hours and get drunk!!!

can't wait to see some pics.....
