Any ancient fish/oddballs can i keep with my cichlids i've tried arrowana and polyterus they just rip up the cichlids
The cichlids are O's ,Jd's,RT,GT,Blk belt, plecs and syno
I was thinking of an eel may be

They beat them up that bad. Well if your cichlids arent too aggressive I'd try a Black Ghost knifefish. I love my SA Lungfish but they do get bigger than a foot and I'd worry about your cichlids tearing off its fins

i've kept silver arowana with Oscars.. actually my big aro and one of my oscars live together currenty.. along with a black ghost knife, and a clown knife and a hybrid MRTC.

i've never seen any of my silver arowanas harass or damage any cichlids in any of my tanks. right now in a 60 gallon grow out tank, i have 3 silver aros, 3 cichla ocellaris, 2 P. Altum angelfish, and 1 red bay snook. there is a little bit of chasing and pushing going on because they need bigger diggs pretty quick, but no one is damaging anyone else.

i've tried keeping oddballs with centrals before and the cichlids keep on harassing them ! imo your better off keeping the cichlids in a seperate tank,on the plus side i have seen it done successfully but you will need many hundreds of gallons to give everyone the space they need
