in theory if you put the young together in a tank to grow out and never seperate them they will not fight

I am trying now but no success. I have a male in a 5 with a big leaf and he makes his nest but the female hates him. She wont let him seduce her.

heh, here is how.

First u need a large tank(20g plus works best) to breed ur betta. shove it full of fake plants(floating and other). breed ur bettas and remove female. feed the male untill he cant eat anymore. continue often(every few hours) to feed ur male untill he cant eat anymore(siphon uneatten food). ull need to continue to pack him full untill the fry and too big to be eatten. the male will guard and care for the fry. he cant eat any(he will eat some weaker fry) because he has no room to eat. As they grow he will act as the alfa dog. their will be some fighting but it is possible to do this. it will take time and effort!! not a easy task

you can do it in a 5 gallon : here are some randome thoughts
bettas dont need heat but they breed best at 80-84 degrees
female if frome a pet store may be old , she is the one that needs to be conditioned the longest with good , plentyful foods, if not live at least
frozen or freeze dried bloodworms concentrate on her she is the one not willing to do the deed

I'm skeptical.

I really want to breed bettas, but fortunately I gave it enough thought to realize that I wouldn't be able to provide good homes for the fry; that means enough space as well as heating for each one.
