Any chance the tail grows back?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks all. I was surprised to see this happen overnight. I guess the gt didn't like his tankmate.

If it was a 3in GT it was left alone way too long with the oscar to do that much damage. I would make sure hospital tank is around 82 degrees with plenty of aeration. Also would be using some aquarium salt but don't over do it. Do water changes daily.

Nope. It happened on their first night together in the tank.

Are you sure your buddy didn't try to eat him?
LOL,that must have been one Hellish overnight for the Oscar. In the photo it looks as if the caudal peduncle is gone,if so I don't see that growing back.

Well...we will just have to have a deformed pet.

It won't be a completely bad thing if it does wind up deformed....just take care of it and give it a good life.

Here is an update. I think I may see some growth on the tail. The hospital tank is a bit dirty, so not the clearest pic.

I think it will grow back. My Texas got its tail taken off as bad as your updated pic and it looks perfect now. It will probably take some time though.
