Yea Meldahl Dam was awesome back in the day, my favorite spot was the corner all the way up next to the wall. I used 6lb test back then with a green grub and 3/4oz jig and caught all sorts of fish. Sometimes there would be a whirlpool that if you casted into it, it would take you around the corner into the rough stuff, that killed your line sometimes because the wall tore it up but lots of fish were caught out there. When it rained heavy, you could on the wall and on both sides, the water level would almost be the same, looked like a lake, thats when we usually caught a ton of big drum.
Markland is good as well but I dont have that much experience with it. I fished it a few years ago with my ex and we caught some fish, it was always packed. My buddy caught an 89lb blue there 2 years ago now which is now in his lake and was caught last year.
I usually just fish the subdivison ponds/lakes, lot of people dont know it but they can hold some big fish. I fish most of the fishable creeks in NKY such as Gunpowder, Eagle, 12 mile, Whoolper, and a few others. Best fishing for me is a tie between a small farm pond and creek fishing.
The past two years I have been fishing Ohio a lot, mainly Little Miami and Great Miami, havent had the best of luck there. What I use in the creeks of KY doesnt seem to work so well just over the river. We started hitting the smaller creeks that feed off or into the two rivers and have been doing much better.
