I caught her on 4lb test, talk about a fight. The one I caught the year before, was a little smaller, was caught on 2lb test. Crazy crazy...never thought Id land that fish. She even jumped out of the water, onto the bank and then back in...some how I got her in. :)
These are from 12 mile as well

I call it 12 mile creek because of the 12 mile baptist church but I think its called something else. It goes under the AA highway, I have permission to park on the land that sits across the bridge and under and then on the other side about half mile or so. I can take ya there sometime. I go in the spring for smallies, then when it gets hot, I go after the gar.

I have caught some monster cats from McAlpine but the real treat will be coming up soon...almost sauger time!
The best cat bait I have found down there is fresh caught/cut skipjack shad. Catch one and cut it into thirds, drop a third into a deep spot and hold on.

MasterB, that'd be awesome I'd love to go check it out. I'm always down for fishing buddies. Never caught a gar around here either, just own one lol.

Planning on hitting McAlpine for sauger time too, pretty pumped.

I am from Southeast Indiana and do find it hard to find good spots to fish on land. I usually fish at Versailles dam or Rising Sun near the boat ramp. Both are pretty good for consistently catching channels. Versailles Dam is easily my favorite spot to fish for carp, there are a ton. Started fishing from a boat this year and have been having way better catches even caught a 45lb blue.
