My dad is in the hospital (which is useless in my city) and they haven't been able to figure out what is wrong with him. Just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences or knows what this may be.
About 3 weeks ago he got the "flu" or it was similar and he felt like he had a charlie horse in his right thigh muscle (towards the back) anyway he was a little tender all over but he thought that this was just the "flu"
The pain has continued for the past 3 weeks and has intensified over the past 5 days or so (he has been doing a lot of physical labour for work as well).
I told him a few days ago to get checked out because his pain description and location sounded like a blood clot. He went to the walk-in on friday and they were closing and wouldn't see him, so he called tele health ontario and they told him to get to the ER right away because they thought blood clot too. Also, there is a history of strokes on his side (my grandpa in his early 50's and my dad is 46).
I dropped him off at emerg. on friday night at 11 and after an hours wait he was admitted for testing. I had to bring in his MRI on sat for him, he has had an x-ray (of his leg and back), ultrasound, doppler, and he is having a bone scan and ct scan on monday. His blood worm has come back normal and the ultrasound and doppler have not shown anything that would make the doctors believe he has a blood clot.
He describes the pain like there are red hot pokers being stabbed into his thigh muscle, the pain is worst when he is sitting, but he hobbles and has a lot of trouble walking. Also, laying in certain positions hurts.
He has had problems with him sciatic nerve in the past and he says this pain is very different, the nurses and GP keep pushing that it is his back or a Orthopaedic specialist came in and has said otherwise.
One of my customers (who is a nurse) thinks it could be a hairline fracture or a cyst on his thigh bone.
Anyways, let me know what you guys think!
Thanks.
