Any Doctors in the House??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He has had blood work done, and everything came back normal. I don't know what wnl means. He has had an MRI done, and if the bone scan tomorrow is clear they will be doing a CT.

I don't think he is diabetic, he is a bit overweight but not that bad, like maybe 50lbs in and around (he has attributed this to quitting smoking. He eats fairly healthy but no exercise except manual labour at work every once in a while.

I am pretty sure all his organs are in working order, and no hypertension that I know of. But for some weird reason he has hot flashes but only while eating. No meds except a multi vitamin for men plus vitamin c

The leg is not actually swollen, just painful, he was given stretch tests that usually make back/leg pain worse and it was relieving the pain. No shortness of breath either.

I hope he gets better.

My question is, how can you trust advise from anybody in this bacon lounge, based on second hand information/guesses when you can't trust real doctors in your hospital who has direct and real information on the patient? No self-respecting doctor will even dare make a diagnosis based on information here.

Good Luck.

have they done a biopsy of the thing on his leg? I'm an RN (and a relatively inexperienced one at that) so I'm not trained to come up with a differential diagnosis like an MD or NP, but it would seem only logical to find out what that thing on his leg is.

one other thing, is there a rash associated with the thing on his leg? Sometimes a viral infection can sit dormant in the nerves, and then when it comes out to play it can cause pain sort of like this. Shingles would be a good example.
If it's a rash associated with the virus it would most likely follow a nerve tract.

I'm so sorry. I hope he gets to feeling better.

There is nothing on his leg he says it feels like his muscle is being stabbed and is burning. Also, no rash.

oh ok so no actual charlie horse, just the sensation of a charlie horse...

I'll ask some friends to see if they have any ideas, but the chances of someone finding a diagnosis for your dad over the web, while trained professionals with all the resources of a hospital are unable to is pretty slim. I would definitely look for a second opinion however.

Yeah I know the chances of him being diagnosed on here are very slim, I was mostly asking to see if anyone has had anything similar happen

that sounds like the pain my dad had a few years ago on his left shoulder. he had no idea what happened or how he got it. but the pain was there for a few weeks. went to the doctor they just gave him some meds but didnt work and we just applied some asian herbal medicines and it went away.

I hope everything works out for your dad. Not knowing what's going on can be scary sometimes...
