Any Engineers out there?

What about doing the same concept in the pool. Build a viewing area into a corner of the pool and have the rest be the "tank" with a nice greenhouse over the top to help eliminate your heating in the winter. And it's something you could still swim in :) I would even see how much a viewing tube would cost.

I always wanted to do soemthing like this but as a saltwater "tank" with something to make a wave for the sound in the greenhouse and create a tropical greenhouse with a seating area and a viewing area down below. just a thought.
 
I thought it would be cool to dig out one long side of the pool and create a viewing window. Make it like a patio or something next to the pool window and have the pool covered by either soil and grass, or put a building on top of it.

Damn, i wish i could do something like that... I was also thinking about putitng a tank on the outside of my house where my dining room window is... but what would that do to my resale? lol and I don't think my husband would even go for it.
 
No-unless your friend wants to live with the fish Dont do it.A foundation is made for support above not pushing out on the walls.This needs to be reinforced a whole different way with tons of rebar and epoxy etc.Yes the walls would only "push" so far with the dirt outside but this isn't a pond - its your friends house. He lives there.Not to mention the humidity and all would rot his whole house .Vents would need to be installed etc etc. Too much for me to get in to but its a bad idea.Great idea in "theory" and would be really cool but it just cant happen. Tell him to build a pool outside instead and then just fill it with fish. If he wants to "look down" on fish then build a bridge or a deck.
 
I was looking forward to the you tube video of this house sinking into a mud hole as the hill eroded away underneath it. Party Poopers!
Whats the new maniacal plan? Is your friend a Bond Villain?
