Any evidence that fasting actually benefits fish?

Haha Merbeast posted pretty much what I had been about to post. While simulating nature can be beneficial or even essential in some areas of fish keeping.. specifically breeding, I don't neccessarily think aiming for nature is the best way. In the wild, few fish live to be as old as they do in aquaria.

Similarly, by moving away from what is 'natural' humans have extended their life spans some 50 years or more. All of you 30 somethings out there would be gray and near the end of your lives were it not for all the unnatural things we do. Fifty year olds would be almost unheard of, and anything above that would be almost non-existent. Not to mention the fact that scores of us wouldn't live past birth and another huge chunk would die out to disease during childhood.

It isn't natural for humans to eat three square meals a day but your doctor will reccomend it, or even better your doctor will reccomend five smaller meals a day. Fish aren't all that different from us, and I personally feel that if we benefit from scheduled regular feedings, fish should too.
