Any experienced guilded catfish "jau" keepers?

I didn't mean to dissuade you. Just warning to be prepared and what to expect. They are not very active, nor flashy but a cool fish for their character, no bland personality, unfortunately it comes out when interacting with tank mates... so one needs to be prepared to isolate them if need be... and they grow humongous, the one at Shedd's in Chicago looks like around 6', so pretty much none of us mere mortals can dedicate a 50,000 gal tank to keep one jau solo. One would probably rather opt for a 3' GATF. Jau tank mates can be added but very carefully and need constant vigilance and supervision and be prepared to stomach the loss of tank mates.
Nah it's fine. I have loss alot of expensive fish now and I dont want to risk it again with Jau. I would rather get a bagarius suchus or b. vaillantii. I don't want another fish with an aggressive attitude that would kill its tank mates..

I had a 9" jau until i sold him on after around 4 months to someone who was desperate for one.he was ok with a niger cat but when i wanted to place him in a sectioned of part 8 x 4 with my much larger piraiba he grabbed the fila on the snout and did not let go for a good 5 seconds i cant tell you how much force the small jau had but it made a right mess of the fila even now the whisker has never grown back.

I must be missing something... How do you reconcile this statement with your title under your screen name? :)

Is your title self-given? I am not familiar with how these titles come to be.

I’ve been searching for one for years and yet to be able to find any found 1 place online that sells them but didn’t get any in this year due to COVID-19 banned all imports so I’m still on the look out. Just picked up 2 wallago attu awhile back that been on my bucket list for a long time. So I’ll keep searching.

Our 40" male is on the market for $2000, negotiable. After 5 years, I got sick and tired of the bickering and fighting between our male and female.
