Hey anyone know if there are exporters from guyana im looking well have been looking for years for cichla ocellaris from there not the hybrids from Florida. I've seen on you tube people fishing in Hawaii and catching them they look like the ones in guyana in know they were introduced there years ago just like in Florida but the ones in Florida look and are different especially the ones with the black bloches. So if any one here knows were I can purchase any true ocellaris from guyana even from Hawaii please post the info I'd really appreciate thanks and I will show my pictures of real ones 1000000025.jpg1000000024.jpg1000000041.webp1000000027.jpg1000000028.jpg1000000026.jpg1000000030.jpg

bassinmike85 bassinmike85 is a hobbyist with a huge PBass collection. Many species. He just knows where to get stuff. He’s been tagged to this thread so he’ll chime in here soon. He posts great & informative info on all things bass, and shares his knowledge freely with the community 👍🏼

Hawaii got introduced to butterfly cichla before Florida did.

Exports from the Guiana Shield (Suriname, French Guiana, Guyana) is heavily restricted for multiple reasons- political, insufficient infrastructure, commercial restrictions, lack of preexisting industry since the 1900s, etc).
There's few people/companies with a permit/license and connections to import from the area in the US; larger wholesale retail operations like Carolina Aquatics and Segrest have brought in fish from the region before, as have smaller retail operations like Nationwide Aquatics and Aqua-Imports, but only sporadically. Unsure if there have been any commercial exports of wild ocellaris lately.
