I can only really have 1 tank. I only want 1 tank.

I have a 7x2x2. It's wasted on my 2 Gulpers.

Anything that can go with them in a tank this size?

They are like 12" +

People say they can eat fish 3 times their size...but is that really true?

Thoughts?

I don't want to get rid of my Gulpers, I love them. But 7x2x2 is a bit big for fish that don't really do much, lol.

they can eat longer and sometimes bigger than them but if it can't fit in their mouth your safe. I will also agree they are pretty lazy and don't do much. I sold mine because I lost interest in them. But none the less. They are amazing to fishes. Also there is a way to get them to move more... no drift wood or caves for them.....keep the tank pretty much ornamental free...all cats will move about and are more active and majority become less skittish.

Thanks for the tip. I had them with a huge Silver Dollar at one stage. They grabbed it by the head but couldn't swallow it beacuse of the disc shape. But obviously that's not something I want to happen again. Will Gulpers still 'try' and eat larger fish? Even if it's impossible? By that I mean, am I likely to come home one day and find a my Gulper attached to the head of a very large fish in some kind of eternal struggle?

Also, is that true about the no decor? I would have thought it would have been the opposite? Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

i have Sun Catfish, which are really skittish, and i dont have decor. and they have become less and less afraid of things.
So i would have to agree with this.

I Have one that will eat anything and lives fine with motoro stingray 11 INCH- 3 clown loach 5 to 6 inch - 2 heroes severums about 5 to 6 inch. clown knife and a mono p bass about 14 inch. The gulper is about 7 inch. If She knows he could eat it he will. I thought she might eat the loach because they're the right size but they dont seem to be on the menu of ant fish even my bass and they both would eat other fish the same size but i think the spikes put them off.

I always go into a situation where I'm keeping other fish with something like Gulper Cat (or any other eating machine) with the understanding of "they might get eaten". If that ever bothers me it's time to split them up. As long as I'm fine with "it might get eaten", it always works out.

Some hefty active swimmimg cyprinids that are too large and fadt would be good, and also add extra activity too the tank...tinfoils for example...or perhaps large laid back cichlids that won't pick on thr cats

Yeah tinfoils are pretty cheap as well. I wouldn't risk any really nice fish in there.

Wide big fish like big Oscars, Bluegill, Datnoids etc or bottom dwellers with spines (Native yellow and brown bullheads )will work with similarily sized gulpers.
