Would a gulper bother eating a neon tetra or other tiny fish? Maybe, maybe not. That's probly not what you are looking for anyway, but I figured I'd mention it.
Any fish that could go with 2x Gulper Cats in a 7x2x2?

I have tried this (with Danios and various other small fish up to 1.5") and can confirm that the Gulpers do not touch them, mine don't anyway. I guess they're just not worth the energy to the mighty Gulper. I've seen a Danio playing on my Gulper's mouth - no reaction!)
my 8 inch datnoid has a small piece of territory next to my gulper, sometime he gets too close and and bumps in to her and she turnS and opens her mouth up wide like "YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME ", it so funny.
Wide Bar silver $$$? they get 12"+, or more gulpers. Imagine 8 or so gulpers in 240! It'd be awesome
Why don't you use a divider? Then you can have fish in the other 40" space and when they are big enough to not be eaten remove the divider.
