South Central...
So does anyone else on here keep any type of chickens, ducks, geese, or other fowl? I use to keep and breed several species of gamebirds about 10 years ago. Since last year I raised chickens and guineafowl from chicks and today I picked up 6 ducklings. They're a breed called Khaki Campbell's and I'm hoping to get eggs from them in the future.

So does anyone else keep any poultry?

We have some plymouth barred for eggs and my son is raising polish chickens and indian runner ducks for 4H. What does your duck set up look like? I have heard that Khakis require alot more swimming area for long term care.

My gf and I keep hens and they're protector, an old man turkey. We're only interested in the eggs. Funny birds. I wouldn't mind getting a few ducks. We've talked about a pair of black swans but they're expensive

I have Barred Rocks as well. In a few weeks the local feed store is suppose to get in some more BR pullets and I plan on buying 8. Last year my fiancee bought 10 chicks from a friend of hers who raises chickens and 7 out of 10 turned out to be roosters. This year I'm not taking any chances and buying sexed pullets. We also have a single hen Silkie that is pretty much a pet and lives indoors for now.

Compared to runners, yes they'll swim a little more. I'm either going to buy them a 300 gallon stock tank for swimming or build them a small pond with my unlimited source of rubber roofing and pond liner. When I raised Mallards I had a small 600 gallon pond they enjoyed but good lord did they ever make a mess out of it.

I'd love to get some Royal Palm or Boubron Red Turkeys in the future. Yes, those swans are expensive! I see them for sale for around $2,000 for a pair.

I bred Mallards, Mongolian Ring-neck Pheasants and Chukar Partridge. I also kept and bred Homing and Tumbler Pigeons.

I would like to get into breeding Bobwhite Quail to reintroduce them to the area but I need to get a permit for that first.

That's interesting. Some of the pet shops around here used to carry quail, not sure if they were Bobwhites...Are you going to apply for the permit.

We have geese 2 super Africa sweetness and apollo 4 white Chinese goose goose, sticky,Bruce, butch and 1 gray Sebastopol eggo. Asils and sumatra. But we used to have a bunch of different types and we had turkeys

I bet they were selling coturnix quail which are smaller than our native quail. You don't need a permit to own them and you can keep this species in fairly small indoor setups. I might apply for a bobwhite breeders permit in the future.

I'd love some geese but they can be too loud and I have neighbors that are kind of close. I already push it with the guineas if you've ever heard the noise the can make! You have Sumatras? I love the look of those, very primitive.

I have a few chickens, currently just buff orpingtons, and used to have golden pheasants. Trying to sell the wife on a couple Muscovies but no luck with that so far.

The quail I've seen at pet shops are button quail. Occasionally i'll see coturnix at the feed stores.
