Any good smaller cats that act like a RTC?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well I bought one at 6" he is now about 9 maybe 10" in maybe 4 months, so I guess an inch a month, but he has kind of stopped now and is getting thick instead of long.

The thing with eels is they really dont need a large tank compared to other fish of a similar length, a full grown one would live in a 180 absolutely no problems at all.

Mine is still in a 2 foot, and its plenty big enough for him, he will go in a 4 foot soon, then into the main tank but for now quite happy in the 2.

Hand feeds, comes out to wait for you, if you tap on the cover glass he comes out to say hello, really cool fish, reminds me of RTC, Oscars etc, very intelligent and friendly.

Oh also if you only went with a 150 one would be fine in that.

Only thing to watch is they are major escape artists, cover glass etc is essential.

cool, yeah! I was planning on a fire eel once I got a bigger tank, because all of the ones the LFS sells are pretty big and expensive. So really just looking for a young catfish right now.

Then I would go with either the Hemisorubim platyrhynchos or a Juruense.

Though if you only went with a 150 gal might be a touch small for a Juruense, I would say 180 for Juruense really minimum.
