Levi, the link no worky for me.

Spotfin, no pictures as it is over at my bro-inlaws house. His sister wouldnt be too happy if she found out about my purchase!

Try it again. Should be fixed now.

mbhw, I will check all filters and fluids and the water pump, but they should all be new after the re-build.

I have been looking all over the net for a similiar boat but I cant find it. I think its a lowe bass catcher but all of the ones I have found have had a much smaller front and aft deck with much less storage. There is storage galore on this boat. On the front deck, left side is a rod locker, in the middle is a livewell, to the right is another large storage area. Under the bench seat we have the life jackets, paddle, nav lights, anchor, rope, and still room to spare. Under the rear deck there are for large storage area, two on each side. Two will of course be for the gas tank and batteries. It may be a home made deck job but if it is, its profesional with thick alumminum framing and very proffesional welds.

Oh I also forgot to mention it came with an on-board charger, two batteries (cranking and deep cycle), and bildge pump! Good deal for $900 even with the repairs to the steering?

Nice score! Sounds like it is going to be a great fishing boat.

Hey man whatever gets you on the water, I don't care I see plenty of brand new boats around here and they still get outfished by the oldtimers in the 1960's crome old school limegreen limens.ha! Now get that baby ready to go and take her on the water and have some fun!

Oh I will have plenty of fun. I will primarily fish the Ohio River for striped, white, and hybrid bass , catfish as well as sauger and walleye. One of my favorite catfish spots is a place where the barges come up and load up with grain from these giant silos. Well some grain will fall into the water attracting all kinds of bait fish who then attract hundred and hundreds of catfish. The fishing is phenomenal even on a slow day!

The manufacturer of the boat isn't going to be the manufacturer of the steering system. If you can find any part numbers or an manufacturer's name on any of the components of the steering system then you can track down the proper parts (the whole unit won't have to be replaced). Before assuming that it is going to need a complete steering system, find out what is actually wrong with it. The previous owner may have just assumed it was stripped gears rather than actually looking to see what the problem was.

Sometimes the worm gear slips over the end of the cable and is attached with a aircraft nut. You may only have to replace the nut. Other times the gear is press fit and spot welded. The spider gear is frequently attached with a nut and is replaceable. If the gears are in good shape, then check out the cable for a break or split in the casing. Also make sure that the cable didn't come out of the sheathing at the motor (or didn't disconnect at the motor (unlikely to be missed at this point)). Being on a small boat with such a small motor, it is very unlikely that it is going to be hydrolic steering.

And ignore the posts from those who are afraid to fix anything. If you have enough faith in your work to replace a steering system, there is no reason you can't replace the broken parts.
