The more people that have illegal animals the more likely other states are to clamp down on the animals we're keeping legally. By way of example, if you haven't heard of HR669, go educate yourself.

It also suggests MFK has a sponsor that sends rays to states where they're illegal - would you be happy if MFK got dragged into any litigation?

So I think you'll see I *am* minding my business since I keep rays and post on MFK and would like to be able to continue to do both.

I am behind you 100 %

I agree with pete however I also think that making parts of nature illegal is crazy. Its like gun control. stupid people who would release a ray are the same stupid people who disregard laws and buy one anyway. you cannot legislate stupidity away, and it makes no sense to punish everyone for stupid peoples actions.

i agree with pete. it is our business because it can have adverse effects on this forum and people who have knowledge of this without reporting it.
i assume barberking is in an illegal state just due to his defense of the OP. whether i'm correct or not, cannot be determined, unless of course i attempted an IP tracking which i don't care to do.

greenranger, the reason they make them illegal is due to the fact that they are not natural to the area's ecosystem, but if released intentionally or unintentionally (natural disaster) would thrive in the region and become not only possible competition for food, but also a threat to that biosystem. they aren't illegal in areas where they would struggle to survive, due to colder seasonal shifts, etc that they could not live through.

it makes perfect sense, though it does suck.

So he knew this thread would pop up, go completely off the rails, and so he preemptively put his location as Georgia, so that you could say just what you said. I don't think he could have thought this far ahead to lie about his location.

I understand the reason they are illegal in those states but again, stupid people release them and stupid people also buy them illegally. this only leaves the law abiding fishkeepers without the chance to own them.

Your right... but why set yourself up for the police to come knock on your door? because they will.

indeed. it's happened before from this site, including someone getting fined for owning an undersized shark, as well as removal of all fish related equipment and not being able to own any aquatic species for years, which they drop by unexpectedly to check.

barberking, as far as defending him, unless it is an alt account of yours to troll with and start drama, you can't defend him. you don't know where he's from either, and since he hasn't replied yet to state otherwise, the assumption is georgia until that gets cleared up, which still remains an illegal state. we're pointing it out not only for him, but for other potential buyers who might be browsing and not realize this fact or looked at the sticky, as well as showing that as members, we don't condone illegal activities in our online backyards.

its not your door they are knocking on so mind your own if he wants to put his info out there then who are you to bash let the mods handle it
