Any idea what this is on my Bala's tail?

Hehe hes definatly not breeding. Yeah I did the salting right after the Stress Coat application while doing the water change today. How ever I did 1tbls/5gal, would doing 1:1 be too much salt? And even though I did the Stress Coat I still hit the tank with a full dose (5mL) of Prime to hopfully drop the Nitrite and Amonia levels. Another thing I just noticed about the Bala is that hes got cloudy eyes. Examined his tank mates and they kinda have it too, just not as bad. I think tomorrow Ill do the pH and Alk rasing to nip that in the bud along with another testing to see if the Prime is doing what Im hoping it is. Let me know about the salt, if more will help then Ill definatly add it.

Just stick with the one tablespoon/ 5 gallons and the Stress coat.

Keep dosing with the Prime as well. It won't remove the stuff, it will just detoxify it so that your BB can recover and break it down. GL cuz. Keep up with the water changes.

How frequently can I do water changes? Also will frequent changes shock the juv CL I just got?

One everything straightens out, pH, ammonia, and nitrite, do 25% once a week.

I wouldn't mess with pH until the ammonia is cycled out, becuase ammonia is less toxic at acidic pHs

For right now while Im trying to cycle out hte ammonia, can I do a water change daily, every other day, every hour, every week? And how often should I do a full dose of Prime? Hell I think Ill just call you tomorrow, what time are you out of class?

I would do a daily water change and add a capful of prime daily. Also replace the salt that you take out everytime you do a water change.

Once ammonia and nitrite go back down to 0, you can cut back to one 25% water change per week.

I get out of class at 2:30 if you want to give me a call then, I hope everything gets straightned out.

Also test your tap water to make sure it has good parameters. Write down the results for future reference. I keep a log book of my water tests so I can look back to see any trends. Also, if the tap water is good (less Cl2) then that is what you should have as a goal in your tanks. If you need to pre-treat for any parameters, buy a trash can that can hold your change water and let the chemicals do their thing while you do other cleaning. When I do large volume changes I use a barrel with a sump pump and garden hose.

Also dont buy anymore fish until you have the cycle finished and get everything else under control. Clown loaches are usually the first to die when the water goes south.

Well I have completed the 50% change and two 30% changes. Ammonia is almost completly gone and the rest of the levels are starting to come back into acceptable levels.

GH: 120
KH: 0
pH: 6.3
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 80

Ill let the tank turn over for a couple days. Then do another test and water change if needed. Thanks for all the help here.

Looking good cuz

One everything is straightened out, you can work on getting that KH up.
