any ideas for my 180 gal wall tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
a combination of a severum, chocolate cichlid and uaru along with a school of say 8 silver dollars plus a medium sized catfish (I'd do a Syno. schoutedeni or 2) would make a very nice and active tank.

if you want big, beautiful fish then you could go with a pair of red terrors (female RT in my avatar).

another option would be a nice colony of frontosas.

so many choices with that size tank. :headbang2

I had cichlids in my 180 gal oceanic bow front tank. Cichlids are very messy and create lots of poop. The water never had a polished clear look to it. After a year, I finally got rid of them.

Cleaning this size of tank is 10 times more difficult then a a 75 gal one. I did make a big mistake with this tank. This tank does not have a built in drain. This would have made the maintainance a bit easier.

I started out with around 30 cichlids, so the more you have of these the more poop.

I hope this helps you enjoy your fish more.

clarity of the water, ime, really comes down to the filtration on the tank. I used to have several medium sized cichlids as well as other fish in my 150 gallon. at the time I was running 3 Aquaclear 110's on it and it was pretty clear but not crystal. I added one more AC 110 and it then became crystal clear. proper filtration and water changes will keep the water clear in most cases no matter how many fish you have in the tank. :)

It actually depends what you are after... Are you a monster fish fan or do you prefer or would like to try some other type of community? Have you ever entertained the idea of a community of less aggressive fish but with a lot of character such as earth-eaters? :)

i would sugjest a fire mouth, jack dempsey, texas cichlid, ONE REPEAT ONE male convict(not as colorful but more impressive), large severums, or a green terror.
