I think I found the source of my problem. A costly one at that as I'm losing two more arowanas as I speak.

The gumbo shrimp 1 lb. packs from Rouse's (grocery store here) have Sodium Tripolyphosphate and Sodium bisulfite added which is known to be toxic to aquatic organsims. I can't believe I didn't read the label first.

Any links to info on this? Google is not very friendly on this. The shrimp I have been feeding my aros for years contains Sodium Tripolyphosphate but not Sodium bisulfite.

Edit: Looking at the MSDS sheet for Sodium Bisulfite it is toxic to aquatic life and not verty good for human consumption either.

if the shrimp are for human consumption, why would they harm your fish? please explain.

Shrimp when frozen often has additives to make them look nice and stop them from spoiling for the customer. The additives cook out when you cook them, but they'll still be present if you feed you fish raw frozen shrimp.
I buy uncooked shrimp from the local market, i freeze it myself after a few days it's spoiled.

the last 6 seem to be fine. Now, I'm just guessing that's why the other died since there's no other obvious reason; no body marks, no signs of parasites, etc. It's either poisoning or head trauma. Frustrating nonetheless.
