Any info on JEBAO Canister Filters?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had one of the Odyssea which I believe is the same manufacturer as Jebao.. worked good for 2 months then started leaking.. they said it was out of warranty and I needed a part that was $30 to fix it.. the whole filter was only $50.. Not using them any more.

WOW.... 3 years! Lasts longer than my Eheim 2026! Is there a prime on the unit? Thanks for the feedback!
I guess anything would last long if you take great care of it and you are careful with handling and maintenance... :) Since the very beginning I was aware of the potential of this filter for failure and I treated it as such: as something I need to be very careful about so as to get the maximum out of it. And it has paid. It's been three years and it's still running fine. Hopefully, it should run for a long time to come. :)

Yes, it does has a prime... that big round button on top that you press to such the water in.

but be very carefull w/ it it doesnt seem that durable, a good drop would send it to the trash for sure. if ur the carefull time its well worth it
A good drop on any canister would send it to the trash. There is no drop resistance canister filter out there. I'm careful with my canister filters but what worries me is a possible leak. I heard these filters are notorious for leaking.

you should also look at the Cascade canister filters

i run a jebao filter like the one pictured and the flow is similar to my new 2215 and its been running for 3 months since its last clean. i have dropped mine and it still runs fine, accidents do happen.
very good value for money in my opinion, you cant go wrong if your on a budget.

i have a full jebo setup and havent had any problems with it.

Still using mine! :) It has, up to now, shown 2 instances of leaks due to clogging but since I've changed my tank to bare-bottom a while ago, everything's fine with no issues whatsoever. I hope it lasts for a good while.
